The practice of a tradition that purports to connect human traits and the course of events with the positions of the Sun, Moon and planets in relation to the stars. No theory that would put the claims of astrology on a scientific basis has ever been generally accepted. Reports of anecdotal and circumstantial evidence, and coincidences, continue to attract a following for astrology though most scientists regard it as pure superstition. In the past, there was less of a clear distinction between astrology and the science of astronomy; many useful astronomical observations were made for astrological purposes.
